Because L19 alloy degrades when coming in contact with moisture (even body oils from your hands) it is not always the best choice for automotive applications. Note that when you change head gaskets, residual water pools around the studs and the deterioration process has begun. The ARP Super-Alloy steel used in our custom kits has all the strength of less expensive L19 with none of the drawbacks.
The higher torque spec improves gasket seal. This is the ultimate stud for that 40-60# boosted monster.
